Rental Agreement (Letter of Rental)

Template terms — The NY Archive should have these reviewed by an attorney before relying on them, particularly the late-return and damage charges.

1. Rental Period. The rental period is 24 hours, beginning at the confirmed pickup time and ending at the confirmed return time selected during booking below.

2. Rental Fee. The rental fee is 20% of the item's retail price, charged through The NY Archive's secure Shopify checkout at the time of booking, plus a flat $25 dry cleaning fee per item. The dry cleaning fee is non-refundable and applies to every rental regardless of visible wear.

3. Card on File. A valid credit or debit card must be authorized and kept on file for the full duration of the rental as security against late return, loss, or damage. This card will only be charged under the conditions described below.

4. Late Return. The item must be returned by the exact date and time selected at booking. If it is not returned by that time, the card on file will be charged the full retail price of the item, with no partial refund issued if the item is later returned.

5. Condition & Damage. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received, normal wear excepted. Visible damage, staining, odor, or alteration beyond normal wear may result in additional charges, up to the full retail value of the item.

6. No Alterations or Self-Cleaning. The customer agrees not to alter, tailor, or attempt to clean the item themselves.

7. As-Is Rental. Items are rented as listed, in the size and condition shown. Exchanges are not guaranteed within the 24-hour window.

8. Electronic Signature. By typing your full legal name below and checking the agreement box, you are electronically signing this Letter of Rental and agreeing to be bound by its terms.
